30” x24”, oil and acrylic on paper and canvas, 2025

The Inscrutable Prophecy

August 11, 2025

Detail

In this painting, the woman sits in contemplation. Parts of her dissolve into a blur of fractured color that resists clarity. The smeared and viscous paint symbolize a memory or feeling or thought that has never fully surfaced or resolved. Her long story is neither revealed nor erased. It is present, shimmering with significance but without explanation. Like an enigma in the heart never clarified, the painting records what has been felt but never completely understood.

Body System, 30" x 24", oil, acrylic, foam, epoxy resin, butterflies (acrylic, paper, clay, wire, needles), on canvas, 2025

Body System

July 19, 2025

Here, the canvas is not just a surface. It is a body, and not just a human body even though that is partially represented. The painted form is only one part of a larger, living being that includes canvas, torn burlap, resin, concavity, and embedded thread.

The butterflies appear not as outside additions or decorations. They are either born from within the body of the canvas or drawn to it and fed by it, formed by the same materials and energies that shape the figure. They hover at the edge of change, marking the site where internal and external become one another.

Everything in this painting is connected: the rawness of the materials, the softness of the painted torso, the tension of the threads, the glossy resin, and the fragile butterflies. Together, they form a complete organism, an image that behaves less like a representation and more like a system, enacting its own metamorphosis.

48" x 40", oil, acrylic, polymer emulsion, clay and epoxy resin on canvas, 2025

Formation

July 19, 2025

This painting uses clay that naturally cracks during the drying process, allowing the material itself to echo the passage of time and the vulnerability of the figure. The portrait is created, painted, aged, weathered, and marked by the process of its own making. Suspended in a state of endurance and shaped both by life and decay….. To me, portrait painting (and still lifes for that matter) is not just about rendering a likeness. It’s about exploring identity, perception, memory, and existence. I use abstraction, fragmentation, mixed media, and even material decay to challenge what a person even is. There is life in everything, and everything is connected.

Threshold #M6

July 11, 2025

This artwork merges figuration and abstraction through painting and sculptural elements, drawing the viewer into a moment of dissolution and becoming. The soft, blurred visage at the center is partially obscured and entangled in a web of fibers, threads, and raw textures, suggesting both memory and erasure. The use of materials—canvas threads, fabric, resinous surfaces, and a three-dimensional handmade butterfly—creates a tactile rupture in the painted plane. These elements activate the work beyond visual language, inviting presence and reflection.

The butterfly, delicately perched yet embedded in chaos, becomes a quiet focal point—an emblem of connectivity and survival. Pink and black threads trail like veins or scars, mapping a process of unraveling and repair.

This is not a static image—it is a threshold. The painting transforms as one looks: shifting from beauty to fragmentation, from portrait to relic, from surface to wound. It invites the viewer to confront their own cycles of vulnerability, resilience, and change.
